10 Clean Eating Hacks for 2018

As the New Year rolls around, why not scrap the resolutions and just eat right, easily?  After all what you put in is what you get out. The process is as simple as can be. How?  Here are my top 10 hacks for clean eats in 2018:

2018 clean eating hacks1-Cook your own food.

Making meals at home is the BEST way to know what you are putting in to your body. This does NOT have to be difficult. (Hint: check out www.staceyhawkinsshop.com)

2-Eat whole foods.

Whole foods are the backbone of healthy meals. Whole foods are foods that are unprocessed and unrefined, or processed and refined as little as possible, before being consumed. Eat organic when you can.

If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it. It’s that simple. Want to know some easy and helpful ways to get great info from a nutrition label? Check out this quick reference from the FDA.

4-Clean out your pantry.

Get rid of processed foods that have garbage in them (see 2 & 3 above.) Canned and packaged foods are fine so long as they don’t contain preservatives or other chemicals. Again, go organic if you can.

5-Limit extra added ingredients.  

Pay attention to ingredients like sugar, salt and fats. Again, keep it as “pure” as possible.

Make a list and stick to it. Don’t let yourself be tricked in the store. Marketers pay BIG BUCKS to fool you into spending extra money on items you don’t need. You’re smarter than that!

7-Make well-balanced meals.

Follow the guidelines for whatever program you are following and keep your plate balanced and colorful.

9-Take it ONE meal at a time.

Take the time to plan, but when it comes to actually making the food, take it one meal at a time. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed. As soon as you do, it’s too easy to throw in the towel on everything. Breathe, eat, repeat.

10-Have FUN!

This is a journey, a process. Take the time to enjoy the food, have some fun and relish the flavors of success.

Eating clean does not need to be a chore, boring or difficult. You won’t ever need to deprive yourself, rather, just make the switch from processed to fresh and enjoy!   With a little work, you’ll soon discover that here are even peanutbutter made from whole, fresh ingredients. Eat clean and thrive in 2018. You deserve it.
