Hey there!
This week, I think I have something for you that will probably hit home. It happened to me just yesterday and I knew I had to write about it because it's so real...
So there I was about to sit down at the kitchen table and plan out my meals for the week. In the blink of an eye, I was overcome with such frustration and agitation just THINKING about having to actually make that list I was ready to kick over the kitchen table and walk away.
Yep. It happens to me too.
In looking back at it, in an instant my irrational mind took over and the overwhelm became so great that I was sliding down the rabbit hole faster than the waterslide at Wally World.
The kitchen felt less like my happy place and more like the LAST place I wanted to be. Thoughts whirled around like a salad spinner gone wild. And, honestly, I just wanted to throw my hands up and say, “F-it, I'm on strike this week.
Sound familiar!? I thought so.
Now, if you know me, you know I always have music on in the kitchen. Music always grounds me and puts me at my creative best. In a rather karmic moment (no pun intended) I heard Taylor Swift in the background (loud and clear!) belting out "It's me- I- I'm the problem it's me!" And just like that, I had my lightbulb moment.
I pushed away from the "torture" at my kitchen table, slipped on some sneakers, and took a brisk walk outside. That fresh air wasn’t just filling my lungs; it was like hitting the reset button on my brain (and hey, snagging some Vitamin D didn’t hurt, either).
When I came back, everything felt new. What was once a storm of stress seemed... well, actually pretty manageable. I realized that my MIND really got the best of me. The task at hand was no Herculean effort—it was just dinner, something I’ve conquered a thousand times. So, I rolled up my sleeves, decided to keep things simple, and, you know what? I was done in 10 minutes, effortlessly.
Here’s the thing: making dinner can sometimes feel like a chore, especially when life’s already pulling us in a million different directions. But I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t have to be that way. We don’t need to complicate things to make them good.
Sometimes, the simplest meals are the ones that fill us up in all the right ways—not just our bellies, but our hearts too. and when we keep our mindset clear and don't let it get the best of us? Well, that's the KEY to everything, isn't it?
So, to all you wonderful women handling the dinner duties night after night, know this: you are not alone. You've got this. And whenever you start to feel like you’re losing grip on your spatula, remember, a little fresh air and a step back can turn the whole situation around.
Keep it simple, keep it fun, and remember, I’m here to help guide you from culinary chaos to dinner done right. Until next week, let’s keep our meals flavorful and our minds clear. Here’s to us, the queens of the kitchen—may our dishes always be delicious, and our spirits even more so.
To your flavorful life!
